Isolation

.
Through out recorded history, man has gone out, away from their homes, to find a new place, isolated from others, where they could be as they wanted.

The Jews wandered the deserts for many years as they followed Moses to their promised land. And, our American forefathers did the same by leaving England to pursue their dreams in a new land. And, within America people have isolated themselves into even smaller groups for the same reason; To be as they want, without outside interference.

Religious groups, cults, clubs, political groups, hobbyists, sporting and activists have all been formed to further their particular views. And, some do that with the intent to push their views back onto the outsiders.

Some have even described me as an isolationist. Perhaps so. I left the hustle/bustle of big city life after exploiting it's high wages for years, and settled into a simple community where most everyone is relaxed and at peace with their life. And, I do encourage others to leave their rat raced homes and search out for that better way. Some say that I have only a few friends and little desire to make more. That's true. But the friends that I do have share the same values that I have, and they are comfortable being themselves and letting me be me.

All that said, is it now time for America to isolate itself again from the rest of the world? Like we did in the first place, but slipped back into the trap 150 years later by entering World War I? And from there it has continued. WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.

Is it now time to pull out of the rest of the world, close our borders, and provide for our own as best we can and within our means? Withdraw as the world's peacekeepers, remove our troops from every where, where ever they are stationed, and bring them home to protect us. We certainly could protect ourselves from any threat. We have the mightiest army and the strongest of courage. We have the technology, the resources, and the will to do that. We just need to do it.

We've built and protected all of Europe and developed the Middle East to the point that they are our biggest foes. And by staying in that game, we have driven ourselves to the brink of poverty. Back to the very reason we fled England in the first place.

Let the cards fall the way they will in those places. Let us survive. Take what we save from protecting others, and redirect it to better health care, lower taxes, and rebuilding our infrastructure right here, in America, not elsewhere!

Just as the Widom from the Thought Dock flourishes in isolation, so should America.

  1. it does no good to isolate oneself ~ might as well put your head in a sand hole and say everything is good.

  2. So then Geo, why don't you take down that fence from around your own house? And you must also believe what the Jews and Pilgrims accomplished was a waste as well. Seems your head has been burried in a sand hole for quite some time!
