Commenting anonymously is a matter well debated. Some argue that anonymous comments made in good taste are a value to any subject. One person recently argued that when a commenter is known to the audience, the comment would lose its value depending on who the commenter was. In other words, if the commenter was a Black female, the comment might be taken less seriously than if a White male said the same thing.
This blog's purpose is to generate meaningful thought and create dialogue, whether the subject is of a family, personal, or public matter. And, as the Author, I permit anyone to comment on the subject whether made anonymously or not, providing it is made in good taste and does not attack the Author, or any commenter directly.
That said, I'll give you my personal opinion regarding anonymity and you can comment, even anonymously.
I don't like the anonymous crap. I've always said, "Stand up for what you believe and make yourself heard." And to do that, you can't yell out comments from the back of the room, or from a darkened closet and expect someone to believe you, even though you might be speaking the truth.
I hoping that you all know Christ, but if you don't I can help. Thinking of Jesus, His message was difficult enough to convince anyone to believe in Him. Now, had he draped his head in a cover, or spoke only from a darkened cave, how many people would he ever have persuaded to follow His way?
With every book I read, every new article I see, every movie I watch, it is very important to me to know who the author is. Knowing that, your perspective of the presentation could be altered. How many of you would actually have an interest to read, or believe what I post if you didn't know who I was?
Imagine opening your mouth wide for a person holding a high speed drill if you didn't know he was a dentist. Imagine sending your child to a sitter that you've never met, or selecting an auto mechanic solely from the yellow pages. I know some of you do stuff like this routinely, and perhaps it works for you. But to do so, scares the heck out of me.
So establishing trust, credibility, expertise, knowledge, and wisdom is difficult to do if you remain anonymous to me. So, think about it. Please feel free to offer your opinion about anything I post. I promise, I won't hunt you down and punch you in the nose if I don't like your comment. If you can't come out of that dark closet totally in public, at least give me some clue as to who you are.
But if you can't, I'll still listen.

I think that anything you post with out signing your name should be taken with a grain of salt. If you believe what you say, put your name to it.
ReplyDeleteI think the name is unimportant if the message is true. For example, the Book of Job, author unknown. Again how many times have you heard a good quote or read a good poem, author unknown? Some will choose to remain anonymous, how about a gift to charity. There are too many self boasters or I like to say Jerry Springers out there in todays world that just want the red neon sign over them that reads LOOK AT ME. One other thing, if you just read a good article and
ReplyDeleteyou found out Barrack Hussain Obama wrote and at the end you could suprise yourself because you were to read it without predijust. sorry for the spelling that's why I wish to remain anonymous
moses stuttered.
ReplyDeleteWell, whether or not the anonymous commenter speaks the truth or not, I wouldn't know. I won't follow any advice from anyone that I don't know and trust. To follow a shadow could lead to one's death. And while some anonymous people make huge contributions and take nothing in return, there are many more who are crooks that prey on society and they too remain unknown.
