Acne Thoughts

.
How weird it is just to be sitting here wondering what to post, when the thought of acne just pops into my mind.

In Those Days, I think every teen had acne. I know I did, but no where near as bad as some. And I can't think of anyone that didn't have a bout with at least some pimples. I hated acne and the only good I saw in it was that it was a pretty effective means of birth control. Well, not for everyone though. Just seems there are far more early pregnancies that there were, but I suppose there are many more factors involved.

But things seem different today. Maybe it's just because I'm out of the circle of teens, but I don't think acne is anywhere near as prevalent as it was when I grew up. And my children seemed to have less of a problem with it than I did, and their children seem to not have it at all.

If I'm correct, then what has caused it? I know there are now medications available today that weren't then. Perhaps a change in diet? It seems we eat less healthy today. Better water? Perhaps. Exercise? I don't think so looking at all of us who are out of shape and over weight. Better hygiene? I showered every day then. And, come to think of it, dandruff is also not like it was.

Maybe it's just my perception. Maybe in some ways this is a better place. Could MacDaddy Obama have had something to do with it? Makes me feel a bit better if it's true.

  1. It *could* be global warming, I suppose.

Seriously, I don't know about Deb, but I did have acne to the point where some called me Pizza Face. :P My kids, one an adolescent and the other just beginning, are experiencing it - not the same degree I did, yet, but still. Maybe you're just around teeny boppers much, but I still see lots of zit-faced kids. Just part of growing up for most kids, I think.
