EVACUATE!

. . Turning north from the Gulf Coast took us through the Great State of Texas. Houston, then Dallas, then a stop over in Amarillo. Although I generally agree with Texan politics, it is certainly not a State for me. But we did feast on some of the better steaks and Barbecue that I've ever had................................................ After a brief tour through the tip of Oklahoma we found ourselves in LaJunta, Colorado. An night there and an easy drive returned us to Central Colorado for a week with family, then another week with family in Northern Colorado, then another week each with Central and Northern Colorado............................................... It was a great time pent with our children, and their children. Birthdays celebrated. Day trips with the kids. Grandkid sleepovers and all the things that grandparents love to do............................................................... But then it came. The evacuation order. Upon answering a pounding at 4:30am at the entry door of the Wheeled Manor, we were ordered to evacuate the RV park as there was an impending flood threat. That we did. Spending the rest of the night, and the rest of the next day at a Wally World parking lot some 15 miles away and on higher ground while the rains continued put a dampening effect on our moral........................ When the rains subsided, we were able to see first hand the devastation left behind. Lives lost. Homes destroyed. Livestock left dead or stranded. And the infrastructure severely disabled..................................................... Surviving that, we will soon be heading home to the comfort of our Central Oregon home. Back again with friends and our extended family. Back to chores around the home, and back to planning our next trip! ............................................ .
