The Seventh Day

.
Early in the Bible, it is stated, "So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all his work which he had done." Thus, a seven day week was established. But for over 2000 years we have had contrasting opinions as to whether His day of rest fell on our Saturday or Sunday.

And now as western world calendars show Saturday as the seventh day of the week, we all go about our business, marching along with the rest of the ducks and never questioning why.

For me, regardless of what the calendar says, Sunday has always been my day of rest. It has always been that way. Sunday was the time to share with God, family and friends. It was the day to go to church, take a drive, or to share a picnic with those you love. It was a time to take a nap, play a game, and drink your last beer so you would be ready to start the work week Monday morning.

There were no gas stations, dime stores or car lots open for business. Dinner was served early and friends just dropped by for a visit. We couldn't wait to watch the Sunday Night Movie or watch the Ed Sullivan Show as a family before going to bed.

The Day of Rest is different today. 24 hour restaurants, Costco, and casinos are packed. Freeways are clogged. Lawn moweres scream, and air compressors pollute the tranquility. Super Bowls and airports disturb the peace.

Still, Sundays are special to me. I love Sundays even more than ever. But my kind of Sundays seem to be odd there days.

Ashes... Ashes...

.
It has long been said that socialism works very well until the time that you have spent all of someone else's money.

Greece has fallen. Their 3 1/2 day work week, retirement ages in the 40's, government control of banks, oil companies, and utilities have led to 23% unemployment. People are people selling their wedding bands to buy food as they burn the businesses that employed and riot agaist the goverment that supported them.

Rent controls, extreme taxation on business, socialized medicine, high crime rates, loss of tourism, and poverty have devastated the country in just ten years. It must have been good while it lasted, but now....?

You know, I'm not a wizard and I don't think many of you are either, but it doesn't take much to see that America is not far behind. And it won't take 10 years for us to go down if we continue on this path of spending.

Our President is our worst since the Peanut Farmer. He continues to create more and more socialized ideas. He is set to increase taxes on business and the most wealthy (who actually own the businesses) in lieu of reducing government spending is in essence, instead, taxing us all.

Whatever tax increase business gets, simply will be only be passed onto us. Raise the cost of doing business, increasing property and income taxes, will only lead to rising rents and wages. It is the cost of doing business. You should know how the federal mandate on using corn in our gasoline has effected our fuel bills.

America is not on the right track and is being led further astray by our current government. America must cut it's spending... Not increase taxation.

It's Coming to America. Actually it is here already as the Occupy movement grows. Sing:

Ring around the rosy,
Pocket full of posies,
Ashes. Ashes,
We all fall down!

Learn the words. Sound off against our President or start singing now!

Ignoring the Evil

.
What is wrong with us? Why is it so hard for us anymore to recognize evil and deal with it appropriately? It surely wasn't like this just a few years ago.

A case in point: Two years ago in Utah, Mr. Powell reported his wife missing. He told the police he went camping with his two young children and returned home only to find his wife had apparently left him for another man. The police found no evidence at the place he said, which was in near sub-zero temperatures. His wife's mother and friends told the police that she had frequently complained to them about abuse from her husband. Extensive searches, both by the police and the local community failed to locate the wife. Mr. Powell refused to cooperate any further with the police and moved out of state. The police refused to call Powell a suspect, but instead named his as a "Person of Interest."

Two years later, the police discovered videos of the wife taken by Powell's father apparently without her consent, but still refuse to make an arrest. Two days ago, the court that had given temporary custody of the children to Powell's in-laws ordered that they allow a visitation of the children at Powell's house. During the visitation, Powell killed both his kids with a hatchet before setting his house on fire and killing himself, yet the cops still refer to him as a "Person of Interest."

Perhaps you have heard about this case. If not, like most everyone else in this country, you have already ignored the evil staring you in the face.

Powell should have arrested the moment police couldn't confirm his first story and hearing about the allegations of spousal abuse. You see, the police don't need to be able to prove a case in court to make an arrest. They simply need to believe that a crime occurred and that the suspect committed that crime. It's for the jury to decide the guilt or innocence. And had that been done, two innocent children would not have been added to Powell's murder list.

This is but one of many instances like this that I could refer to. I only chose this one because it should be fresh on your minds.
Evil lurks everywhere in today's world, but to turn your head or shade your eyes to it is evil in itself. It is for this reason that Evil continues to spread its roots all around the world. To stop evil, we must recognize it and put it down at first notice.
