Very Scary

.
The following is reprinted from a blooger, Professor Joseph Olsen, Hamline University, School of Law, St. Paul, MN.:

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

Olsen points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain:
2,427,000 Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won wasmostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low incometenements and living off various forms of government welfare...

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the"complacency and apathy"
phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy,with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to theUSA in fewer than five years.

Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic . Someone should point this out to Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution.

There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 2012.

Thinking: This'll be the Day that I Die

.
It was Summer 1975, when the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) was at war with America, inside America. In addition to planting bombs under police cars in Los Angeles, these homegrown terrorists had killed several innocent people while robbing banks to finance their effort. Their actions were much the same as the President Obama's good friend and the then leader of the Weather Underground Group, Bill Ayers (who since served prison time for trying to blow up a federal building),

Anyway, a group of fellow officers had surrounded 5 members of the SLA inside a house in Watts and were involved in a nasty shootout against men armed with automatic rifles. As I headed toward the officers cry for help, It was then that I thought for the first time in my life, "Will this be the day that I die?" I feared death then.

Within a few months, while patrolling at night in downtown Los Angeles, I spotted a man trying to climb through an alley window into a ground level apartment residence. As I approached, he suddenly drew a 45-caliber pistol and aimed it at my face. I could clearly see his finger flexing as he tried to pull the trigger. And I wondered again whether it would be the last day of my life. I feared death then.

I followed an orange glow in the midnight sky to a house on fire only to find an old lady trapped inside. Amid small explosions, intense heat, and heavy smoke, I thought once again, "Will this be the day that I die?" I feared death then too.

Incidents like these occurred often in the world’s busiest police precinct during those turbulent times that I served in. Far more times that I want to relive in the stories I could tell.

But you know, I don’t fear death any more. It’s not that I’ll go looking for it, but more that I have prepared myself for it. I know that the only reason I’m still alive is because of God’s Grace. And I know that some day He will call again, and then I will live in a place without fear forever and ever.

Marooned in the Middle-Fifty

.
While travelling through Junction City this past weekend we saw a man rocking out to the music of his own tune as he walked the road facing traffic. Dancing, waving, flailing his arms to the passing traffic, some of which responded with toots from their car's horn.

A mile or so down the street was another person dressed as Captain America, shield and all, sitting on the curb. I'm sure you've seen many other versions of these freaks yourself. So, why do people act like this?

Long ago, as a son born into a relatively poor, and then-minority family, I was taught to stay out of the "Lime Light." To be successful, I knew it was beneficial to be within the hump of the Bell Curve. To dress and behave like the majority of the other people I ran with. To not be the fastest, the smartest, the best. And likewise, not be caught in the rear of the pack.

The "Middle-Fifty" they called it back then. And to be able to adjust to a new Middle Fifty where ever my father's military career took us. And so, it is there where I remain today, and will likely always be.

Not because I am not the best, or the brightest, or the fastest. And likewise, not because I might be at the start of the Bell Curve with the worst, or the dumbest, or the slowest. But if I were there, you'd never know it because I'll blend in to be just like you, wherever you are.

You see, I don't bring attention to myself. Unlike the "It's all about me" attitude that too many of us have. Like the Captain America dude, or the freak rocking out to his own tune (or perhaps cartoon), it is not all about me. But it is for that very reason that people love to spotlight themselves.

It takes an entire team to complete a pass for a touchdown, not just the quarterback who throws the pass and then bows and prays to God, thanking Him for his talent. It requires an entire army to win a war, not just the heroic actions of some soldiers, or the leadership a general. But it is these people that spotlight themselves.

The Michael Jacksons, the Lady Gagas, and the Madonnas all conduct themselves using all about me attitudes. Casey Anthony recently talked all about her new I-pad, a new hairdoo and glasses, but never mentioned the loss of her child. It was all about her.

And the list could go on and on if you can see things clearly.

But you know, each one of us has an important place in life and in America. Our President, the future President, and not even Nancy Pelosi can pull us out of the mess this country is in. It takes all of us. All of you. Everyone to make a change. So do your part whether you chose to be in the spotlight or not.

For me, I'm forever marooned in the Middle-Fifty, just doing my part and trying to make some sense for those whom are nonsense.

Doing the Laundry

.
Well, let me first wish all of my Followers a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Most of you know, and most others have figured out that I've been away for the Holidays. Yes, just spending time with the family, friends, and with God as it is intended to be.

But for me, the wonder of Christmas never really goes away. The Thoughts, the Faith, and the Truth seems to never go away although the Season has ended. The sounds of "Joy to the World" just keep bouncing around in my head throughout the year.

I've found that things do not always come clean in the laundry as some say. Like that rebounding Christmas music in my head that never seems to go away, the decisions that we make today will never simply go away but have long lasting effects well into the future.

Now, that could be a good thing, but all too often it is not, which is the subject of this post.

President Obama's decisions in particular. His decisions in his appointees to the courts will be there a life time. His appointees to key federal offices will be there a career time. His policies will have a generation's length of impact. And you know, I can't even think of a single thing that he has done that I think was appropriate. And every day, every hour he does even more to destroy the American ways which our country was built upon.

In the course of just two days (yesterday and today), he sidesteps Congress and appoints three of his biggest union chromies to the Federal Labor Board, a payback for their support and funding in his campaign. He created a new summer jobs program for low income youths, and another program giving immigrants job prefernces over others. It is just another of his ways to spread the wealth, even in so much as to non-Americans.

These policies will never come clean in the wash, even after he is replaced. And he needs to be replaced ...... soon. There is no telling how much more damage he can cause in thie next year.

I'm Back!!
