Ignoring the Evil

.
What is wrong with us? Why is it so hard for us anymore to recognize evil and deal with it appropriately? It surely wasn't like this just a few years ago.

A case in point: Two years ago in Utah, Mr. Powell reported his wife missing. He told the police he went camping with his two young children and returned home only to find his wife had apparently left him for another man. The police found no evidence at the place he said, which was in near sub-zero temperatures. His wife's mother and friends told the police that she had frequently complained to them about abuse from her husband. Extensive searches, both by the police and the local community failed to locate the wife. Mr. Powell refused to cooperate any further with the police and moved out of state. The police refused to call Powell a suspect, but instead named his as a "Person of Interest."

Two years later, the police discovered videos of the wife taken by Powell's father apparently without her consent, but still refuse to make an arrest. Two days ago, the court that had given temporary custody of the children to Powell's in-laws ordered that they allow a visitation of the children at Powell's house. During the visitation, Powell killed both his kids with a hatchet before setting his house on fire and killing himself, yet the cops still refer to him as a "Person of Interest."

Perhaps you have heard about this case. If not, like most everyone else in this country, you have already ignored the evil staring you in the face.

Powell should have arrested the moment police couldn't confirm his first story and hearing about the allegations of spousal abuse. You see, the police don't need to be able to prove a case in court to make an arrest. They simply need to believe that a crime occurred and that the suspect committed that crime. It's for the jury to decide the guilt or innocence. And had that been done, two innocent children would not have been added to Powell's murder list.

This is but one of many instances like this that I could refer to. I only chose this one because it should be fresh on your minds.
Evil lurks everywhere in today's world, but to turn your head or shade your eyes to it is evil in itself. It is for this reason that Evil continues to spread its roots all around the world. To stop evil, we must recognize it and put it down at first notice.
