The Rabbit Died

.
In Those Days, we even tried raising rabbits. Unlike the colored chicks my Dad brought home at Easter time, which we raised, and then to our surprise, we ate, I really don't remember much about the rabbits. But in trying remember more about them, I could only recall this single story.

One day, while working in his yard, a man turned to see his dog proudly holding a rabbit between his jaws as if to show the prize off. It was very clear to the man that the poor thing was dead, as it was bloody and covered in mud. Somehow the man was able to recognize the rabbit as his neighbor's pet.

Not wanting to have his dog blamed for the death, he removed it from the mouth of his dog and carried it inside his house. The man scrubbed the rabbit in the sink, managing to remove all of the dirt and bloodstains. Then he even dried it with a hare dryer (pun). After dusk, the man snuck into his neighbors yard and carefully placed the rabbit into his cage to give the appearance it died peacefully in it's sleep.

The next day, the man saw his neighbor crying near the rabbit cage. The man asked whether she was alright and acting innocently, "Did Pedro (Spanish for Peter) pass away?" The woman explained her rabbit days a few days before and that she thought she had gotten over her tears. But she thought it was cruel when someone dug him from his grave and put him back in the cage!

Ok... Ok..... I'll get back to the real wisdom from the Thought Dock very, very soon..
